We made the commitment, now what?

So we’ve made a commitment. And I am guessing now you are asking yourself what is next? well I am not a doctor. And I cannot diagnose your health concerns and symptoms. But I do know that  when you’ve set a goal, a great start  is creating a plan to reach that goal. And in order to create that plan, you need to know where you are starting from. Do we really know ourselves? if you read the “about me” page then you know I was fighting  with myself over my weight before October 2012. And even though  I knew my name, my address, my family… I didn’t really know myself. I didn’t know I had become an emotional eater, I didn’t know that my BMI was at a range that put me at risk for diabetes,  high cholesterol and at risk for a heart attack.  I had no idea that for my age I was considered obese. I did know that I didn’t like the person I was looking at in the mirror. I even wrote on my mirror with eye liner ” this is not you” and had an arrow point directly towards my reflection.  Ok, before I ramble on did I lose you at BMI by chance? if so BMI stands for Body Mass Index.   Your BMI  is calculated by your height and your weight. BMI is an estimate of body fat and can be an eye opener to some of your risks  for diseases that come with a high amount of body fat. The scary part is the  higher your BMI, the higher your risk for diseases such as heart disease, high blood pressure, type 2 diabetes, gallstones, breathing problems, and certain cancers. Click the tab to figure out your: BMI TABLE  you can also try this BMI calculator  thanks to the American Heart Association. Once you have figured out your BMI, and have a better understanding of what your risks are and where you need your BMI to be… WE CAN BEGIN TO CHANGE FOR THE BETTER. One thing I realized when I began this journey was that this wasn’t going to be a diet, or some kind of temporary fix to a life long problem. But a Lifelong change to a better healthier lifestyle…. and now commend yourself. Yesterday you joined a movement with friends for a happier, healthier, longer life. And today you got real with yourself. You are fully aware of where you stand with your health. I am proud of you, and so glad you are doing this with me.

  1. I absolutely love that you started this blog! I have been feeling the same way. I tend to start workout routines for like a month, then forget all about it and get lazy. And now that my 30th year is approaching, I felt like I owe’d it to myself to get healthy. I want to be able to go into my 30s looking better than I did in my 20s. So if you don’t see me post my daily miles on Instagram, call me out on it! LOL Keep up the blog! Thanks for the inspiration!

    1. Selina, I am so proud of you. I know it can be scary to make some major changes in life, But I am so happy for you for wanting to!! There is nothing more gratifying then proving to yourself that you can achieve something you have set your mind too. I am feeling better in my late 20s then I ever did in my entire life. And at that I have been thin most of my life, but never satisfied with my body. So don’t worry I will keep an eye on you!!! xoxoxo
