Cha Cha Cha CHIA

So one little seed that I can say has helped my health over all is Chia Seeds. Chia wha? Chia seeds. The same chia seeds from all those commercials when you were a kid,  where you take your planter shaped as your favorite character, slathered the seeds and water and watched it sprout. Yeah those chia seeds. These little seeds have been used for health since back in the aztec and mayan days. They would use it for natural energy, protein and glowing skin.  There isn’t a scientific study proving it can aid in weight loss but it has been proved to help you feel fuller based on the fact that when these seeds get wet they double in size and become gel like.

One ounce (about 2 tablespoons) contains:

  • 139 calories
  • 4 grams of protein
  • 9 grams fat
  • 12 grams carbohydrates
  • 11 grams of fiber

Its also rich in potassium, omega 3s, calcium, iron, vitamins and minerals.

Chia seeds are naturally beneficial to our skin. It helps keep out nasty toxins while keeping it hydrated and helps keep our cell membranes strong. You can even find chia seed in an oil and serum. Its said to help anti aging, and is regularly used by celebrities such as Miranda Kerr and Gwyneth Paltrow…  for more info on getting healthy glowing and hydrated skin visit my favorite beauty guru’s blog: brittanymicheleblog

a fun way to incorporate it into your diet is my favorite Chia seed pudding:

What you need:

  •  2 cups unsweetened almond milk
  • 1/2 cup chia seeds
  • 1/2 teaspoon stevia
  • 2 table spoons agave nectar
  • 1/2 cup mixed berries

Mix in your chia seeds, stevia and almond milk, add your mixed berries and agave and stir together. Let it sit over night in your fridge and in the morning you have the yummiest breakfast ready to go!

Chia seeds are also considered runners fuel. There is more iron in them than spinach, more calcium than milk, more Omega 3s than salmon, and more antioxidants than your favorite berry.  These super seeds help improve muscle recovery, improve your endurance, fight fat and reduce inflammation.  No wonder these seeds were considered foods of the gods by the aztecs!

Skinny Hydration: A great way to get that H20 down and also get those extra nutrients is by adding it to your water! It will create a natural gel…. Yummy for your tummy and help for ultimate hydration! I love to add my favorite fruits to my water just for extra flavor. You’ll be surprised at how fast you get in your that gallon of H20!

Stay Hydrated my friends!
