Beautiful and conscious

I wanted to share some of my favorite beauty products that make me smile. Being healthy doesn’t just mean eating the rights foods and exercising, I feel like it also means being conscious of the products we use on our bodies as well.  What’s the point of my daily yoga routine or even organic juice if I am using products that are harmful.  I know it can be costly and so I take my time replacing products with better ones. Here’s a small list of my “must haves” and why I must have them! :

  • Pacifica first off I have to share their manifesto.. I love it.

The Pacifica Manifesto.  Love what you do and do
what you love.  Great waves make for great days.
Don’t follow trends, follow your heart.  Invent
a new world and keep ties to the old one.Romance, travel and adventure are all
in a day’s work.

Pacifica is a an amazing collection of beauty products, fragrances, home candles & diffusers.  They are 100% vegan, and cruelty free.  I love that their beauty products are shades complimentary to any woman. Their shades are warm and cool and both shimmery and matte, the options are endless. But my most favorite product is their perfumes. The smell instantly  transforms the world around me into a magical garden full of vibrant scents. There is no smell or perfume like it. There is one particular scent that I always find myself buying..

Waikiki Pikake:

The name alone describes it beautiful and fragrant scent. It doesn’t take over like some perfumes and it is light and airy.

  •  Heritage Products Lavender flower water–  Heritage is a great brand that you can find at your local health food store, its a product line you can rely on as well as afford.  This company has been around for 41 years, they pride themselves in how holistic they are, as well as the fact that they offer gluten free products. They also guarantee their product or you get your money back. I love there flower waters. They are so good and refreshing for your skin or you can even add it to your bath. You can use it for so many things, like during yoga as a meditation aid…

My favorite scent from the line is Lavender–  After my morning routine of washing, toning and moisturizing I love to spray it and absorb the calming feeling lavender offers.

  • Jason’s toothpaste– I love Jason’s products. The company dates back to 1959, the company spent their time creating products that reflected their Californian culture as well as reflecting their pioneering spirit. Though the company offers a variety of products my most favorite has to be their:

Sea fresh strengthening toothpaste

This is the easiest way to freshen your breath without worrying of any harmful chemicals. It contains: Blue Green Algae (Aphanizomenon Flos-Aquae), rich in Calcium, proteins and antioxidants, to strengthen your teeth and gums and potent Spearmint and Parsley Extracts to keep your breath fresh and clean. Snack Attack

I hate that I am a  such a “snacky” person. I will be on point all day and then the kids get in bed and I get me time, and BAM. Snack attack! I become so hungry. I work so hard all day just to throw  it all out the window with a fatty snack. Luckily I made a list of my top 5 snacks to satisfy the urge without letting out the bulge.

  1. Sliced cucumber and tomato with olive oil and feta cheese.- easy on the tummy but delightful on the pallet.  Pretty simple recipe: literally cucumber, tomato, olive oil AND feta cheese.  Choose 1/2 tomato, 1/2 cucumber and 1/4 cup of feta and a few table spoons of olive oil. No need to make a HUGE salad.  Portion size still count.
  2. 1/2 cup of edamame. Edamame, is pretty much soy beans. They look like green beans but have a very different taste. They are great and high in protein and very tasty, but adding salt and eating it to no ends at your local sushi bar is a no no.  They can be like nuts and have a high calorie count.
  3. Apples and almond butter. I have already raved about the benefits of apples, but almond butter? This amazing and smooth buttery treat is actually heart healthy and sugar friendly. It helps maintain and even lower your blood sugar levels, it’s allergy friendly and a great alternative for the folk’s allergic to peanuts. And since this rich little nut is high in protein, fiber and monounsaturated fat  they will help in cinching our waists!
  4.  Plain fat free greek yogurt, fruit and agave nectar…I love greek yogurt because its higher in protein than regular yogurt, and a great source of calcium, and can really help when trying to lose weight!
  5. Bananas. First things first, it fights the blues!!! that’s right it helps fight depression. The tryptophan inside the banana turns into serotonin. And that is what makes us happy. It makes up for the calcium lost during urination, reduces stress and regulates blood sugar, which means no crazy PMS symptoms for us ladies. The list goes on, it helps reduce your chances of type 2 diabetes, helps strengthen that nervous symptom. Produces more white blood cells, high in iron which helps with anemia. And the B6 helps with weight loss.
